Nanci Alcorn

Here’s another precious insight from Nanci’s journal. One of the verses she shares, Jeremiah 17:8—the image of us being a tree with roots deeply planted in Jesus—is a favorite of ours.

Nanci read the following to me from her journal a few days ago, and I asked her if we could use it as a blog. As many of you know, she has been battling cancer for over three years now. We are grateful for everyone’s love and prayers, and are fully trusting God in this. 

When I was dating my wife Nanci in high school, and had dinner with her parents, her dad and mom first told me this story. In years to come, I heard it a number of other times. I found it charming and funny, and just like Nanci! I asked her to write it up so you could enjoy it too.

Earlier this year, my wife and best friend Nanci was diagnosed with colon cancer, and is now beginning a combination of radiation and chemotherapy treatments. She recently wrote a prayer based on Psalm 23. It really spoke to me, and I hope it speaks to you too.

In this interview, Randy and Nanci recall God’s faithfulness to their family and to this ministry in the years since EPM was founded.

Having a biblical perspective is seeing life through God’s eyes. It is seeing order in chaos, use in the useless, and good in the bad.
