Scott Hubbard

I really love this article by Scott Hubbard, editor at Desiring God, for several reasons. It is so powerful from a missions perspective. Plus, I’m a huge fan of Isaac Watts who was not only a hymn writer but also a great theologian.

It’s not always easy to see the interruptions in our days as God’s sovereign plan for us, but if we don’t view them that way, we’ll end up frustrated and annoyed instead of useful and grateful. We’ll resent people for interrupting us, rather than looking for divine appointments. 

This article about Psalm 112, written by Desiring God’s Scott Hubbard a few years ago, is especially applicable now in the face of the coronavirus crisis. Instead of dreading the short-term future and further losses it can bring, may we daily trust our faithful God in whatever we face next, and look forward to our eternal future and the joys that God has promised await us.

In this article, Scott Hubbard, editor at desiringGod.org, shares some thoughts about the statement “All I need is God.” He writes, “Throughout Scripture, God’s people often need more than God alone—they need God through the things he has made.” Thanks, Scott, for this helpful clarification.
