Question from a reader:
My son went to be with Jesus, and I miss being silly with him. Do you think innocent silliness will be permitted in Heaven?
Answer from Randy Alcorn:
I have no doubt whatsoever that innocent silliness will be part of our experience in Heaven and forever on the New Earth.
God has given us our sense of humor, which will be absolutely sanctified. I think that means we will not be less funny, but far funnier—and never at anyone’s expense, and without any hurt feelings.
God is the inventor of all good things, including good humor, wit, and lightheartedness, and the wonderful relational delight that is inseparable from all of those. I’m convinced it’s part of our being made in the image of a consummately happy God.
