He shares how ultimate happiness can only be found in Jesus, who calls us His friends. He and the students discuss Heaven, which is defined as where God’s throne is; and how one day Heaven and Earth will be reunited and Jesus will reign forever over a redeemed earth. Randy also answers many thoughtful questions from the students.

I love this audio devotional from the excellent book Gentle and Lowly by Dane Ortlund. When I really love a book, I tend to either read it quickly or slowly. In the case of this book, I read it very slowly and spent multiple days reading some of the chapters.

He shared the good news that hope is found in an eternal life of “God with us.” The painful life under the curse on this present Earth is contrasted with the redeemed life we were intended for on the New Earth. Earth’s greatest days, as well as our own, are yet to come.
