Randy had a conversation with his son-in-law Dan Franklin at their church, looking at what Proverbs 5 has to say about purity. 

Sex as God intended—in marriage, between a man and a woman—is a pleasure to be celebrated (see Proverbs 5:15-19). Sex outside of marriage brings serious negative consequences—emotional, physical, and spiritual. Promising long-term pleasure it can’t deliver, addiction to sex and pornography enslave and degrade everyone involved.

Randy joined Pure Desire Ministries on their podcast to discuss the problem of Christian leaders and pastors having moral failings. Randy helps listeners to understand what contributes to the fall of high-profile leaders, how churches can recover and heal, and how to prevent failures from happening.  

Consistent victory over sin is possible in this area as with any other sin, with God’s help and empowerment as we partner with His Holy Spirit (Colossians 1:29). But this side of Heaven, we still face temptation, and yes, sometimes we do fail our Lord and Savior by sinning.

Satan paints a target on each of our chests. But we have a choice about whether Satan will hit that target. Sexual sin is NOT inevitable. Many Christians are seeking God’s will in any number of areas. A good place to start is with God’s directly stated will: “It is God’s will that you should be sanctified: that you should avoid sexual immorality” (1 Thessalonians 4:3).

La pornographie est plus facilement accessible que jamais. Par le passé, pour avoir accès à des magazines ou des vidéos pornographiques, il fallait bel et bien aller les acheter ou les louer. Mais aujourd’hui, il suffit de taper sur quelques touches d’un clavier ou de faire glisser le bout d’un doigt sur un ordinateur, un ordinateur portable ou un téléphone mobile, et n’importe qui a instantanément accès à des milliers de photos et de vidéos pornographiques.

D’entrée de jeu, le péché sexuel apparaît qualitativement différent. Pourquoi? Parce que la sexualité ne touche pas seulement à nos actes; la sexualité touche à notre identité.

Depuis l’adolescence, beaucoup d’entre nous ont entendu maintes raisons justifiant de marcher dans la pureté sexuelle. Dieu commande la pureté et interdit l’impureté. La pureté est bonne. L’impureté est mauvaise.

Une idole est bien plus qu’une statue grotesque, pourvue d’une grosse tête et d’un rubis dans le nombril. Une idole est un substitut de Dieu. Une chose (n’importe quoi) à laquelle nous accordons plus d’importance qu’à Dieu.
