In this video from Desiring God, Ben Stuart offers advice for overcoming temptation: looking down stream to anticipate where the temptation leads, and looking upstream to God.

We need to think in terms of what choices we are making that are exposing us to impurity. I can’t just magically snap my fingers and expect that I’m not going to face sexual temptation. 

Recently when I posted an article from Tony Reinke about homosexuality and idolatry on my blog, I received a thoughtful question from a reader asking if homosexuality is a “worse” sin than others in God’s view.

The greatest argument for sexual purity is God’s holiness. If we wish to be godly, we must wish to live in sexual purity.

If you have a ministry of any sort—public or private—as a teacher, preacher, leader, helper, or as any kind of salt and light in the world (Mt. 5:13-16)—then take heed: you are a targeted man, a marked woman.

I never create any mental pictures that could tempt, as I have strong convictions against that.
