Years ago I spoke on the phone with David Green, the founder of Hobby Lobby. It was great to meet face to face this brother and his wife Barbara, such wonderful people. They are the founders and owners of Hobby Lobby, with its more than 750 retail stores, and they employ approximately 32,000 people.

Our worldviews permeate our writing, and if all we soak in is popular culture, a few hours a week at church won’t be sufficient to give us depth and durability. We need to read quality books by great Christian thinkers.

After I spoke in one church, the pastor asked me, on behalf of the churches of Cuba, to greet the body of Christ in the U.S.A. I do that now. The churches in Cuba have spiritual strength that has come through adversity. Please pray for the people of Cuba, and especially for the churches.

Lord willing, this Thursday, September 15, Nanci and I leave for a two-week trip to Cuba and Bermuda. We would appreciate your prayers for smooth flights and customs, as well as for avoiding hurricanes (it’s hurricane season both in Cuba and Bermuda). I’d also appreciate prayer for health and stamina, and for divine appointments for Nanci and me both as we minister to those we meet.
