Nanci and I are enjoying our first week with our new Golden Retriever puppy, Maggie Grace, who is nine weeks old. She’s pretty adorable, so I keep pulling out the camera.

I shared briefly on Facebook what happened a couple of days ago, but wanted to blog about it now and add quite a few other thoughts and links.    

Throughout Scripture we read that animals praise God. Psalm 148 commands all of creation to praise the Lord, including the animals.

In this 5-minute video, Randy Alcorn talks about Romans 8:18-22, which says that the whole creation was subject to suffering and futility because of human sin. Creation is under man’s dominion and will share the rewards of his redemption just as it shared the punishment for his sin.

It was our final day in Maui. That morning I asked the Lord, knowing full well there are countless things far more important, if He would graciously allow me to see something in the water I’d never seen before.

Yesterday we looked at reef fish. Today it’s turtles. Tomorrow I’m going to share an amazing ocean surprise God shared with me on our last day in Maui.  

As I mentioned in a previous blog, one of my favorite activities in the world is snorkeling. It’s a profoundly spiritual experience for me to enjoy the wonders and beauties of God’s underwater world.

God is so gracious to give us animals. In Genesis 1 and 2, one of the first responsibilities given to the first man and woman was to care for the animals.

Asking how rats and spiders and insects could possibly be on the New Earth is like asking how they possibly could have been in Eden. The point is, they were, and it didn’t diminish Eden, but somehow enhanced it.

Throughout Scripture we read that animals praise God. I don't know exactly how animals praise God, but our inability to understand it shouldn't keep us from believing it.

Here are photos of some of the more bizarre looking animals God has made. Some make me smile, revealing God’s sense of humor and delight. Some just make me shake my head and wonder at His creativity.

Romans 1:20 says, “For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made.” The entire creation declares what God is like. That includes animals.
