Even when life doesn’t go your way, Jesus remains faithful and works in your best interests. 

I think of our lives in terms of a dot and a line, signifying two phases. Our present life on earth is the dot. It begins. It ends. It’s brief. 

It has always been difficult for me to spend great lengths of time in prayer, and sometimes it’s been a cause of discouragement. On the other hand, God has graciously taught me about prayer and dependence on Him throughout the day.

Kevin DeYoung’s blog is one of my favorites. I loved this post he wrote, and encourage you to consider the things in your own life you one day won’t regret taking time for.

While we may only see our earthly circumstances, God is working to increase our dependence on Him and to make us more like Christ. 

In her book Choosing Gratitude, Nancy Leigh DeMoss shares a pledge written by a Bible teacher named Russell Kelfer. He challenged believers to write these words on a sheet of paper, and sign their names, then make a habit of recommitting themselves to it on a regular basis.

I believe interracial marriage between believers is God-honoring, and can be a beautiful demonstration of Romans 10:12, “There is no difference between Jew and Gentile—the same Lord is Lord of all and richly blesses all who call on him.” 

The key to a productive and content life is “planned neglect”—knowing what NOT to do, and being content with saying no to truly good, sometimes fantastic, opportunities.

One of the most difficult challenges for a Christian student is to be in a classroom with a professor who is openly hostile to faith in Christ. 

We all talk to ourselves. Whether or not this is a good practice depends largely on what we are saying, and whether it is true and helpful.

I have seen firsthand people watching the JESUS Film for the first time, in their own languages, viewing Jesus with awe and wonder and affection, then crying out in agony when He is tortured and crucified.

I appreciate these thoughts from our friend Joni Eareckson Tada on Christ being the motivation for our earthly service.
