Satan’s objective is evil and suffering—exactly what the Messiah came ultimately to defeat. From the beginning, God planned that his Son should deal the death blow to Satan, evil, and suffering—reversing the Curse triggered by Adam and Eve’s sin, redeeming a fallen humanity, and repairing a broken world.

If our eyes are on anyone but Jesus, we’re not going to have the stamina to put up with criticism or outright hostility. 

Downtown Portland is a busy place and full of needy people. On this particular day I had forgotten my bag of goodies which I normally give out to those asking for money, so I was street hopping to avoid contact with anyone.
