The Bible tells us we are pilgrims, strangers, aliens, ambassadors working far from home. But we’ve become so attached to this world that we forget our true home, built for us by our bridegroom. This makes us prone to spiritual amnesia, or as Paul David Tripp says, it makes us “eternity amnesiacs.”

A reader asked me, “The last part of Isaiah 11:9 says, ‘For the earth will be full of the knowledge of the LORD as the sea is full of water.’ Most of the things I’ve read focus on the first part of the verse, which says, ‘They will neither harm nor destroy on all my holy mountain.’ What are your thoughts on this beautiful promise in Isaiah 11:9 and how it relates to the New Earth?”

The unbiblical doctrine of pre-existence is taught by the Mormon Church: “We were first begotten as spirit babies in heaven and then born naturally on earth” (Journal of Discourse, Vol. 4, p. 218).

A while back, someone on Facebook commented that my book Picturing Heaven is blasphemous because it attempts to picture God’s dwelling place. I respectfully disagree.

Because work began before sin and the Curse, and because God, who is without sin, is a worker, we should assume human beings will work on the New Earth. We’ll have satisfying and enriching work that we can’t wait to get back to, work that’ll never be drudgery.

Question from reader: In Heaven, you make a case that we will have some type of body in the intermediate Heaven. So what body do we receive in 1 Thessalonians 4:17? It says, “Then we who are alive, who are left, will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we will always be with the Lord.”

Question from a reader: Do you think perhaps there is no sense of passage of time after death and that after we die, the intermediate state you speak of would pass in a millisecond, and then we are resurrected? It would be sort of like a seamless quick passage to the New Earth. Otherwise, would we be conscious of say, 200, years passing in the present Heaven before the bodily resurrection?
