Yesterday was one of the most exhausting days of my life. I stood in front of a video camera nearly the whole day, answering questions about Heaven, covering nearly all the major subject areas addressed in my books.

For every American polled who thinks they are going to Hell, there are 120 who think they’re going to Heaven. Author Randy Alcorn explains that Heaven isn’t our “default destination” and that specific preparation must be made if we are to safely arrive in Heaven. A recent poll indicated that for every American who believes he or she is going to Hell, there are 120 who believe they’re going to Heaven.

You can’t imagine the reaction of people as I read certain passages from Heaven during our Sunday morning meeting at the Triad Handicapped Conference. There were gurgles and squeals and hand clapping and arms flailing.

Who said, “If you’re not allowed to laugh in heaven, I don’t want to go there”? (Hint: It wasn’t Mark Twain.) It was Martin Luther.

Since publication, a dozen people’s input has prompted me to make a few dozen changes, mostly small but some significant, that will appear in future revisions. I always feel good about doing this.

We needn't be embarrassed either to grieve the loss of our pets or to want to see them again.

But thanks be to God, all who repent of their sin and follow Jesus Christ will someday be in the “land of the LIVING”!

People are made for the eternal and therefore cannot be ultimately satisfied by the temporal. 

In Hamlet, Shakespeare called what lies beyond death “the undiscovered country.” People have given much thought to this country—and adopted remarkably different attitudes toward it.

Discerning Christians with a strong biblical theology can pick out the good and toss the bad. Unfortunately, most who read the book (and see the movie) will not do that.

By removing eternal risk, Christ calls his people to continual temporal risk. For the followers of Jesus the final risk is gone.

“A Theology of Heaven” will explore biblical indications of what happens at death; the intermediate state, as distinguished from the final state; the resurrection and final judgment; the nature of the new earth-centered heaven; the judgment seat of Christ; eternal rewards; and reigning with Christ.
