Last Saturday afternoon, Chuck Colson went home to be with the Lord. After founding Prison Fellowship in 1976, Chuck ministered in more than 800 prisons, in 40 countries around the world, over the next 35 years. 

Shortly before he died November 22, 1963 (yes, the same day as John F. Kennedy), C. S. Lewis granted his final interview to Sherwood Elliot Wirt, of Decision Magazine. It’s a fascinating interview. I found the final two questions and answers interesting.

Missionary Bert Elliot (brother of martyred missionary Jim Elliot) went home to be with Jesus last Friday. Nanci and I met Bert and his wife Colleen in January 2006, which marked the fiftieth anniversary of the martyrdom of the five missionaries in Ecuador.

The recent report of Billy Graham being taken to the hospital with the possibility of pneumonia prompted me to think of one of Billy’s closest friends, who is ten years older.  

Rapper Shai Linne has produced a masterful musical biography of Spurgeon. I love it, and I love that people from different countries and different times and with different styles of communicating can be one in Christ and elevate the Word of God.  

Question from a reader: Have some things happened in your own circle of friends and family in the past few years that prompted you to write We Shall See God, an upbeat book on the topic of heaven?

This book is my attempt to help readers access wonderful Spurgeon insights into Heaven they might otherwise never know.

One of my great joys has been reading the sermons of Charles Spurgeon, which to me are unparalleled in their depth and eloquence in exalting our God. Every time I read his sermons, whether on Heaven or anything else, my heart is drawn toward my Savior and my King.

I’ve said before that one of my delights is exploring the vast reservoir of sermons by Charles Haddon Spurgeon. I came across one called “The Mighty Arm.” 

A.W. Tozer (1897–1963) has been one of the great influences on my life since I was a new believer, as a teenager. I fed on Tozer as a young Christian, and still today God speaks to me through his writing.

Since I have read nearly everything Lewis wrote, I have a fairly good grasp of what he believed.

I have been rereading C. S. Lewis’s God in the Dock, a collection of his essays. Actually, I’ve been listening to the audio, sent to me by the wonderful folks at christianaudio.com. I love it.

Question from a reader: You quote from C.S. Lewis in your books often. I like Lewis too, but now I'm hearing that he's not biblical. I recently watched an online video that said he was a universalist. What do you think?
