Randy Alcorn answered a variety of questions at the 2010 C.S. Lewis SW Regional Retreat and Writers Workshop. In this clip, he answers the question,"When does perseverance in writing become stubbornness?"

At the beginning of all novels, they have a page that says something like, "Any resemblance between the characters in this book and real-life people is completely coincidental." Every novelist I know totally laughs at that page.

I think it's to probe beneath the surface into the deep longings of people, then to open a door into the invisible spiritual realm so people can see ultimate realities (including God, angels, demons, heaven and hell) with the eyes of faith and imagination.

For a long time Christians were reticent to enter the field of fiction writing. Although fiction had been popular in the secular field for a long time, it was sparse in Christian publishing. 

By viewing writing as a ministry first and a vocation only second, I remind myself it's not about me, it's about Him.
