This election year, many of us are already finding the political commentary and news exhausting. Never have God’s people needed the reminder more that the key to influence and change in this world is not, and never has been, politics. It is faithfulness to Jesus.

Kirk Cousins, quarterback for the Minnesota Vikings, and former QB of the Washington Redskins, is a faithful and Christ-centered brother. Despite the fact that those who know him personally realize he is a caring and loving person, Kirk has received heavy criticism for simply appearing on a Focus on the Family program.

Rosaria Butterfield's new book is Five Lies of Our Anti-Christian Age, and she addresses the propaganda modern culture has embraced about sexuality and spirituality, using the word of God to help illuminate each topic. I listened to the audio version of this book, and I can’t tell you how encouraging it was for me to hear Rosaria read it and to hear the inflections of her voice.

The following is from a church in Israel that Nanci and I attended years ago. We got to know the founder and pastor, and I believe this information to be trustworthy.

Our hearts are broken for the people of Israel who have endured such great atrocities inflicted upon women and children and the elderly, slaughtered mercilessly. I also pray for those who seek peace, including believers in Jesus in Gaza.

Author Jesse Johnson, who leads The Master’s Seminary Washington DC location, lays out a compelling case for why he believes the LGBQT movement is another religion, and explains how the church can respond with grace and truth.

This article provides some excellent suggestions about how parents (and grandparents) can talk to the children in their lives about transgender and identity issues. Our kids need to see that the truth is not in what the world serves up to us about sex and gender. Rather, the truth is in Jesus, as revealed in God’s Word.

Al Stewart does a good job of summarizing the key points from Irreversible Damage: Teenage Girls and the Transgender Craze by Abigail Shrier. Although her book isn’t presented from a Christian worldview, it helps us understand the social contagion of transgenderism that is hurting many young people around the world.

The collection of quotations I’m sharing today is from The Genesis of Gender by Dr. Abigail Favale, which makes some very significant observations. Some of these quotes are quite deep, but well worth thinking about, so I encourage you to stick with this whole blog. 

Carl Trueman writes, “Every age has had its darkness and its dangers. The task of the Christian is not to whine about the moment in which he or she lives but to understand its problems and respond appropriately to them.”

Nancy Pearcey writes, “Christianity provides a high view of the body in its approach to all of these issues.” As you read Nancy’s article, consider how the Biblical message differs from the false worldviews of our culture.

Is “gender” a social construct? Should male or female be a matter of personal choice? Are there more than two “genders”?

Over the last six months, I’ve been doing a lot of thinking and reading about gender confusion, which is sometimes called gender dysphoria. This is an issue of immense importance that we cannot wish away. 

Believers are, as Paul puts it, one in Christ. Not ceasing to be male or female, or ceasing to be whatever race we were created as, but fully united regardless of our differences. The glory of God is greater because people of different tribes, nations, and languages of different times and places will be forever united in Jesus.
