 There is no more support for reincarnation here than if Yogi Berra were to say “He’s Babe Ruth” on seeing yet another home run from St. Louis slugger Mark McGwire.

I’m not familiar with that as a Mormon belief. However, I have had upset people tell me “But Mormons and Jehovah’s Witnesses believe in the New Earth.” 

We’re not saved by good works, but God has prepared for us a lifetime of good works (Eph. 2:8-10), which are our gifts to Him.

I think it has some valid aspects to it, but I also think it breaks down. (Which doesn't mean it's a bad analogy, just a limited one. An analogy that is limited can still illustrate a valid point.)  

When I used to teach hermeneutics and Bible study methods at Multnomah Bible College in Portland, OR, I always emphasized Bible history and culture a lot.

The widely believed notion “all sin is alike” is not grounded in Scripture. All sin is bad, of course—all sin crucified Jesus. But it’s a myth that all sin is the same to God. 

I still can’t get around Christ’s words in Matthew 22, which seem to clearly refute the Sadducee’s assumptions that if there were a resurrection, it would mean marital partnerships from earth would carry over to the resurrected life, and therefore people would have multiple spouses.

There’s a difference between talking to someone and praying to them, and if we keep that clear, I think that’s the key. 

Your distinction about eternity being “without time” is interesting, however perhaps not supportable. Only God is timeless.

Every reference in Revelation to human beings talking and worshiping in Heaven prior to the resurrection of the dead demonstrates that our spiritual beings are conscious, not sleeping, after death.

The teaching of the evangelical community has been 99.9% on the side of infant salvation. That's certainly where my heart is, and after reflecting on Scripture, if I had to put money on it, I'd put it on infants going to heaven when they die. But the difficulties involved are considerable.

In Heaven, we will recall some—likely most or all—of our lives on earth.  This is among the most controversial beliefs I’ve presented in my books, yet there’s clear scriptural evidence for it.

When we die we go to be with Christ (II Cor. 5:8) which is wonderful. But we are still incomplete, in a pre-resurrected state, anticipating Christ's return to earth, and our resurrections. The place we'll live forever will be where God comes down to dwell with us, on the New Earth (Revelation 21:1-3).

The issue seems to be what Muslims believe about Jesus Christ. My question would be: "What does your sister-in-law not believe about Jesus that keeps her from becoming a Christian?
