Everything our bodies need will function perfectly, but there are likely to be several parts of our bodies which will no longer serve a purpose…tonsils, perhaps some other glands as well, may become irrelevant. 

The best thing you can do is replace those lies with the truth, and let the truth be what you focus on. Randy has shared this quote attributed to Martin Luther: “You can’t keep the birds from flying over your head, but you can keep them from making a nest in your hair.”

It seems like there is so little understanding of what goes on in the brain of someone with dementia. We know that once we're on the New Earth, our resurrected bodies won't suffer from any of the diseases and ailments we experience here on Earth.

We do want to be very careful to keep the focus on Jesus, and remember that He is the only Mediator we need. (Seeking contact with the dead is clearly forbidden in Scripture.)

Scripture commands us to set our hearts on Heaven: “Set your hearts on things above, where Christ is seated at the right hand of God” (Colossians 3:1). And to make sure we don’t miss the importance of a Heaven-centered life, the next verse says, “Set your minds on things above.”

In Heaven, those whom we have influenced for Christ, directly or indirectly, will know and appreciate us and desire our fellowship. What a thought!

Our perspective today is informed by the reality that resurrection awaits God’s children. According to God’s Word, the best is yet to be. We who love Jesus do not pass our physical and mental peak in this life, nor do we reach it.

While some people say that in Heaven we will no longer be male or female, the Bible doesn’t say that. When people saw Jesus in His resurrection body, they knew He was still a man. Likewise, in the final Resurrection, women will be women and men will be men.

In an incredibly sad scene in The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe, Susan and Lucy observe the terrifying death of Aslan. They are in utter despair that the best being they had ever known had been mocked and killed. Suddenly, they hear a great noise. The Stone Table was broken into two.

I’m convinced that the Bible is clear that though we will have freedom to choose in Heaven, we will have no ability to sin. Consider Revelation 21:4-5.

Our instincts tell us that this fallen world isn’t our home—we were made for someplace better. I’ve never been to Heaven, yet I miss it. Eden’s in my blood. The best things of life are souvenirs from Eden, appetizers of the New Earth.

Randy writes: "The promise of no more tears or crying is after the end of the world, after 'the old order of things has passed away' and there’s no more suffering on earth (Rev. 21:1-4)."

That’s a fascinating question to ponder. Randy has said this about technology on the New Earth: “Some people expect the New Earth to be a return to Eden, with no technology or the accomplishments of civilization. But that doesn’t fit the biblical picture of the great city, the New Jerusalem.”
