Perhaps Randy carefully chose the word “renounce,” in that typically it has a meaning of “verbally proclaiming a completely severed relationship with another entity” (person, people, “the creation,” etc.).

I like that. It moves our hearts to gratitude for God’s kindness in giving us a home to live in, not only our eternal home in the New Heaven and Earth, but our first home on the present Earth.

“Paradise” in the original language means something like, “a beautiful, manicured, park-like ‘garden.’”

Randy Alcorn, author and pastor, wrote Tell Me About Heaven for children. The juvenile fiction story helps children visualize and understand what heaven might be like. The story begins with conversations between ten-year-old Jake and his Grandpa, known as “Papa” after Jake’s beloved Grammy dies.

Though it was originally geared toward children ages 8-12, we know of more than one group who has used it as a Bible study for adults.
