Question from a reader: Isaiah 65:20 says “he who dies at a hundred will be thought a mere youth; he who fails to reach a hundred will be considered accursed.” It sounds as if Isaiah is saying that in the new heavens and new earth people will die. How do you interpret this text?

Deep is the dwelling place of God. Deep is the character of the ocean. Hold the metaphor for a moment and savor its lesson ahead of time.

The Bible treats this judgment of believers with great sobriety. It’s not a meaningless formality, but a monumental event in which things of eternal consequence are instituted.

In the same way that bones aren’t included in flesh and blood explicitly, likewise blood isn’t included specifically with flesh and bones, but may be implied.

I studied verse 10 and clearly, whatever is being spoken of in verse 9 is also being spoken of as being revealed to us by the Spirit in verse 10. I also went to the beginning of the passage....

Question from a reader: If we understand that sex was holy and sacred in Eden as well as in the context of marriage on this Earth, why would we think that sex would be out of place or offensive on the New Earth?

We value in story the conflict we avoid in life. What makes a good story? Interesting characters, significant conflict, the thwarting of desires, and a satisfying (if not triumphant) resolution.
