God is the Father of this family we enjoy. We rightly sense that our relationship with them has not been terminated, only interrupted, and we know that some day each of us will be taken from this world, in one moment separated from some we love and in the same moment reunited with others we love, and above all with our Lord.

This is a good reminder that there is a time to not only pay full price, but also to pay in excess to the glory of God, if that’s more pleasing and honoring to Him.

So, I shouldn’t be bragging about my Bible study or prayer or evangelism or parenting or giving, but I shouldn’t be covering it up either.

While we do not regard ourselves a charismatic church, we do not wish to be known as “anti-charismatic.” What we do insist upon is a spirit of love and unity, the total sufficiency of Christ, and the final authority of the Scriptures.

I’ve spoken on Matthew 6 in Kenya and Cambodia, but I change illustrations, while still focusing on the importance of giving. I believe giving is universal, a timeless principle, which God taught to and expected of the poorest Israelite.

When it comes to our money and resources, what Randy is trying to communicate is to be open to the needs of the people today (the poor, the hungry and needy)....

Note that Paul didn’t say, “Command those who are rich to stop being rich.” The implication is that there is legitimate diversity in the amount of money and possessions held by Christians. Most early Christians weren’t people of high social standing (see 1 Corinthians 1:26-29).

I am really torn on this one. There’s no way to know what products are made through forced labor of religious and political prisoners, though I would guess it would be less than 10 percent.
